Climate Emergency Rally 1pm this Saturday, City Square
Senator Bob Brown will be the keynote speaker at this Saturday's Climate Emergency Rally in Melbourne's CBD.
The rally will call for renewable energy not coal power, public
transport not new freeways, as well as cancellation of the desalination
plant and bay dredging. The Victorian Greens are among the rally's sponsors.
Both state and federal governments have recently failed to support the solar energy industry on rebate levels and feed-in tariffs. A new coal-fired power plant is planned for Victoria, and a massive road tunnel for Melbourne's inner north. It has never been more important to send a strong message to our state and federal governments that they must take the climate crisis more seriously.
Rally participants are asked to wear red to symbolise the urgency of addressing climate change. The rally will start at the City Square at 1pm, then move to the Alexandra Gardens to form a giant human sign reading 'Climate Emergency'.
All Victorian Greens members and supporters are encouraged to attend. More information. Colour poster download. B&W poster download.
