Colin Long beach dining29-10-07

Australian Greens candidate for Isaacs, Colin Long set up a lounge room in the shallows at Mordialloc Beach to "highlight the risk of sea level rise as a result of global warming. For Melbourne’s bayside residents the risk of sea level rise is exacerbated by the irresponsible plan to dredge the Bay.

“Climate change and bay dredging are linked”, Colin Long said. Global warming is causing sea level rise, water temperature increases and more violent storms. The best way to protect marine environments from these threats is to ensure they are in the best possible condition and subject to minimum stress.

“Dredging the bay is precisely the wrong thing to do given what we know about the growing environmental and climate crisis”.
