The State's waste disposal bill is $300 million per year. "We are awash with waste," said Colleen Hartland, the Greens Waste Policy spokesperson. "This is why we want to make a 'cradle to grave' responsibility for waste management mandatory. This will encourage further recycling, keep materials out of the waste stream and reduce their impact on the environment."
