We don't need a desalination plant

Your Water Your Say campaigner Peter Baird says that Victoria's proposed desalination plant would produce about as much greenhouse gas as 280,000 extra cars on our roads, and pump enough chlorine to treat 500 olympic swimming pools into the local waterways each day, potentially causing the production of highly carcinogenic PCBs.

The average suburban block receives eight times as much water in rainfall as it consumes, so subsidising water tanks make much more sense than paying a multinational millions for years to manufacture our water. View the video on YouTube.
