What is the NESRC and who’s on it?
The NESRC will consist of:
4 elected office bearers - Convenor, Secretary, Treasurer, Local Branch Coordinator;
Up to 5 general NESRC members and 2 local branch reps (appointed by each branch within the region).
The NESRC: meets at least once every 3 months; manages the preselection process, establishes campaign teams for state and federal elections and allocates preferences for state and federal elections; helps establish and foster new branches; and fills vacant Regional Representative positions on State Council. Regional Councils are official, autonomous entities within the Australian Greens Victoria constitution. They can form election campaign committees and manage funds.
Call for Nominations: NESRC Office Bearer Elections (2008-2009)
Nominations are open for NESRC Office Bearers for the year 2008-2009 and will close during the AGM.
Any member who may be interested is encouraged to nominate or express an interest. We need people to fill positions and contribute to the NESRC and Greens. In particular, consistent with gender balance and affirmative action principles, women are encouraged to nominate.
The following positions are open for nominations:

Five general members
Two members may nominate together as a team to be Co-Office Bearers.
Details of the responsibilities of each of these positions is available as a separate document.
2.Close of Nominations
Nominations will be accepted at the AGM.
Alternatively nominations may sent to Returning Officer .
Nominations are to be sent on paper or by email; or in person at the AGM.
Candidates may nominate themselves.
Nominations sent to the Returning Officer must arrive by 5.00pm Thursday 14th August 2008.
Candidates will have the opportunity to speak for 2-3 minutes at the AGM, or as decided by the AGM.
3.Voting at the AGM
Voting will be by financial members present at the Annual General Meeting (see notice). Voting will be by secret ballot. The voting system is optional preferential with “seek further candidate”.
Votes will be counted immediately after polling closes. The election results will be announced at the conclusion of counting.
Candidates may appoint scrutineers.
Any member may attend the Vote Count.
4.Financial Membership
In keeping with the usual practice, a member must be a currently financial member at the close of the Ballot to be entitled to vote or to stand for election. If you are in any doubt about your membership please contact the State Office; or NESRC Secretary or Returning Officer.
