Rod Eddington, in his report commissioned by the Victorian State Government, has drafted a $9 billion plan for a giant road tunnel from Footscray to Collingwood, travelling under Parkville and through Kensington.
In a series of public meetings, Greg Barber is raising awareness of this plan and the facts surrounding the rollout of a major piece of road infrastructure at a time when Victorians are crying out for improved and extended public transport services. Greg Barber argues that this $10 billion tunnel is unnecessary for the reason that most traffic doesn't go across the city, it goes into the city. He reasons that for that sort of money, there are many better ways to cut traffic congestion across the inner north. In addition to learning about the impact that this road tunnel could have on your area, this will be an opportunity for residents to meet Local Government candidates and ask questions about this carbon heavy infrastructure plan looming on Victoria's horizon.
