Is emissions trading an economists’ picnic or will it really stop global warming?

Professor Ross Garnaut was commissioned by Australia’s governments to advise on how Australia should tackle climate change.  His draft report, to be released on Friday 4 July, and final report, due in September, will have a major influence on Australia’s climate policies. This one-hour forum will review and comment on Professor Garnaut’s draft recommendations, focusing on how he proposes to tackle biocarbon (carbon associated with living systems) and fossil carbon emissions.  Come if you are interested in a quick overview of the review and its implications.  There will be plenty of time for discussion.

You can also read his report (www.garnautreview.org.au) and attend a Forum organised by the Garnaut Secretariat at Melbourne Town Hall on Wednesday 9 July, 10—11.30 am.  (http://www.garnautreview.org.au/CA25734E0016A131/pages/public-forums)
