Information about the Bendigo Branch
The Bendigo Branch of the Greens was formed in 1995 after a well attended public meeting. The branch has functioned strongly since then, growing and becoming stronger as the party has grown.
Initially Castelmaine members were part of the Bendigo branch, but Castlemaine now has their own branch. We have also had contact with members in Swan Hill and Mildura, and hope in the future to see branch grow in those locations.
The Bendigo branch has fielded candidates in most elections held since its formation, culminating in the election of 2 councillors to the City Of Greater Bendigo council in 2004 - Cr Julie Rivendell and now Mayor David Jones.
The branch meets at the Bendigo Neighbourhood House (21 Neale St. Kennington) at 7:30 pm on the second Monday of each month.
The Bendigo branch covers the Local Government Area of Greater Bendigo and incorporates the localities of Ascot, Axedale, Big Hill, Derrinal, Drummartin, Eaglehawk, East Bendigo, Elmore, Eppalock, Goormong, Heathcote, Huntly, Kangaroo Flat, Kimbolton, Jackass Flat, Lake Eppaloch, Lockwood, Mandurang, Marong, Neilborough, Ravenswood, Strathfieldsaye, Wellsford and Woodvale.
