Celebrating 100 Years of Votes for Victorian Women.
Where: CoAsIt conference centre, 199 Faraday St Carlton, just east of Lygon St, click here for more details about the venue
Public transport: Train to Melbourne central, Swanston St tram to Melbourne Uni, then walk down Faraday St 2.5 blocks.
Childcare: Please contact pc@vic.greens.org.au before 5pm on 11th September if you would like to use the conference childcare.
Lunch: is BYO/DIY both days – bring from home or purchase from any of the venues nearby on Lygon Street. The venue has a lovely courtyard where you can have your lunch. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available at the venue throughout the conference.
Films: The venue has a 95-seat theatrette, and a series of films will be screened on the Sunday (see list at end of page)

Saturday 13 September
9.30am registration and welcome
You will be welcomed to the Conference by Suffragists who will help us celebrate the centenary of women’s suffrage in Victoria. You will be invited to sign a banner representing the original monster petition which was presented to the parliament over 100 years ago by suffrage campaigners.

10am Welcome to Country: Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Doreen Garvey Wandin
10.15am Returning officer - declaration of the new office bearers and regional representatives on State Council (list will be posted on wall).
Final call for nominations for State Council General Representatives and unfilled Regional Representative positions, Party Agent, Policy Coordination Committee and National delegate positions - these close at 11.00am.
10.20am Centenary of women’s suffrage: Suffragists
10.30am The new Senate, and what having Party Status at a Federal level for the first time means for the Greens: Senator Rachel Siewert.
10.50am AGM Part 1
Recommendations will be made that each of the following be accepted by Conference:
- Previous minutes
- Co-convenors' report (5min)
- Secretary's report (5min)
- Treasurer's report - annual accounts (10min)
- Auditor's report (5min)
11.25am Election of nine State Council General Representative positions and unfilled Regional Representative positions. Each candidate gets one minute to present, ballots close at 12.30pm.
11.45am Nomination statements for the following positions (1 minute each, ballot closes at 12.30pm):
- Party Agent (1 position)
- Policy Coordination Committee (5 of 10 positions will be re-elected)
- Victorian representative on National Taxation Working Group (1 position)
- Victorian representative on National Murray Darling Working Group (1 position)
- National Conference delegates (10 positions)
- National Council delegates (4 positions)

12.20pm Constitutional Review Panel: Explanation of proposed constitutional amendments to be debated and decided in the afternoon.

1.20 Celebrating a centenary of women's suffrage in Victoria: Keynote speaker Professor Patricia Grimshaw, distinguished Professor of History at Melbourne University, and a pioneer of women’s and gender history. Prof Grimshaw has a fine record of achievement in her field at national and international level. Her lively address will both inform and entertain.
Prof Grimshaw will be introduced by Whitehorse Cr Helen Harris, and former Senator Janet Powell will conclude this session.

Announcement of State Councillors elected today.
Formal debate and vote on the Constitutional Amendments proposed by the Constitutional Review Panel (ballots close at 5pm)
3.00pm Close of nominations for the following positions - each nominee to speak for 1 minute, ballots close at 5pm:
- State Executive General Representative (8 positions)
- Constitution Review Panel (4 positions)
- Disputes Panel (between 5 and 9 positions)

Recommendation: That the PLG review be accepted by State Conference and that State Conference empower State Council/Executive to liaise further with the PLG and make more specific recommendations for consideration at the 6 December 2008 State Council. That the current membership of the PLG remain until the Terms of Reference are finalised.

1.45 pm The Murray-Darling and the River Red Gums:
Keynote speaker Henry Atkinson is spokesperson for the Council of Elders of the Yorta Yorta nation, and founding member and delegate director of the Murray Lower Darling Rivers Indigenous Nations.
He will speak about the Murray Darling issues from his perspective, and the Victorian Environment Assessment Council River Red Gum report.
